PL proven in January is a must, My 'old school' opinion on Jackson in Villarreal dressing room? Does the vision align with the expectations? Luke Rushbrook on Reece James, News roundups, and More...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 28th November 2023!
We have reached the final week in November now and the busy December fixture list is right ahead of us, starting with Brighton at the weekend.
Frustratingly, Newcastle felt like a game that was winnable and should have set us on a good pathway for these next games during the crazy festive period. But we did the opposite and put in a terrible performance. That game stays fresh in our minds and our reactions right now before we put it to one side to focus on Brighton, and there has been plenty of fallouts with ‘training-gate’ and Nico Jackson being spotted celebrating with his former team mates in the Villarreal dressing room less than 24 hours after the Newcastle embarrassment.
There has been many emotions, anger, and debates since, and that continues into this newsletter today.
I’ve given my somewhat ‘old school’ opinion on Jackson being having a jolly with his former team mates here to kick things off today. Also in this, words on Mauricio Pochettino suggesting he would cancel the players days off but then for that to actually not happen. It was all chaotic and confusing, and exactly what we didn’t need after being thrashed by The Toon.
What we do need, and I have maintained that since the summer, is one or two more proven Premier League players. And once again, I’ve got involved in the striker debate and given my verdict on whether we should be chasing Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen as our new front man in here.
And sticking with current subjects, in my next article I am asking, does the vision align with expectations of the club? We have built a young squad with many raw players who need to develop - but are they enough for us to challenge for UCL football this season, which is our target? Or have we not added enough balance? I give my views on all of that in here.
Luke Rushbrook is back with his daily articles for us during the week and he has looked into the Reece James sending off from Saturday which is an incident that has been dissected, and some have been a little over the top with it. Read Luke’s thoughts here.
Check out all the rest of the fallouts, quotes, and more reactions from Saturday in here as well as all the latest transfer rumours as we approach January.
Live blog will be up and running from 8am today!
Peace, Si.
