Numbers to back up my positivity.....
Everyone knows that I love stats and am (sometimes) overly positive, I have combined the two today.
Good evening ladies and gents,
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Today I am going to provide some stats to prove my positivity…… i.e. show that we are gradually improving, albeit still toothless at times in front of goal.
I have calculated everything over a 10 game period, split 5 & 5.
Last week I released an article which was surprisingly (for me) warmly received and mostly agreed with, even when I believed I was being overly positive, so today I want to back that up factually.
In the last 5 games we have accumulated 11.4XG, compared to just 7.9 in the 5 fixtures previous. That is a huge 3.5XG improvement in the last 5 games, people will argue fixtures and opponents, but th elast 5 games have all been against teams that implement a really effective low-block, something we are renowned for struggling to create or score against.
In the last 5 games we have conceded 5 goals, keeping 2 clean sheets along the way. In the 5 games previously we conceded 14 goals, which needless to say is a huge improvement. Again, people will argue fixtures and opponents, but in the previous 5 games we faced an out of sorts Newcastle and Manchester United and conceded a total 6 goals.
In those first 5 fixtures we conceded 11.7XG, in the last 5 fixtures we conceded 5.9XG, a massive improvement of 5.8XG. I wont continue to bang the drum of “fixtures and opponents”.
We averaged 49.7% possession in the first 5 fixtures, in the last 5 we have averaged 62.4% and which is a huge improvement.
At this point you all get the point that I am trying to prove.
A short and sweet article today, but hopefully one that lands a punch.
Please give me your thoughts and opinions below.
Thanks for reading!

Luke a different approach and I’m not sure you need to convince the doubters the season end will see them saying it was luck anyway regardless.
However it’s good to look at the sums although I’ll be happier when we can say that about 10 & 20 games.
We've lost 7 of our last 8 aways in all competitions.
3 of our next 4 league fixtures are away from home
