Chelsea paused negotiations with Sevilla over a deal to sign Jules Kounde last week when they needed to focus all their attentions on getting Romelu Lukaku over the line.
Now that one is all but over the line, Chelsea will go back in with another proposal to Sevilla which they hope will be enough to sign him.
The Blues have been proposing players, but the only one they were keen on at the moment, Kurt Zouma, wasn’t keen on joining Sevilla.
So the Spanish side are preferring a cash deal, but before negotiations stalled, they were asking too much for Chelsea’s liking.
Chelsea are still looking to sell Zouma independently, so they will still see that as money off the Kounde deal.
Personal terms with Kounde are already agreed and he is waiting and expecting to join Chelsea this summer.
The club are also confident of finding an agreement with Sevilla that suits both parties, and Kounde is likely to be Chelsea’s third summer signing after Marcus Bettinelli and Lukaku.
They just need to get closer with a fee and go through with the official offer.
