Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents,
Firstly, a disclaimer……… I normally am not a fan of ‘short-term fixes’ or 6 month loans. BUT, when a player of this caliber is available for a short term solution which benefits us long-term then to me it is a no brainer.
The reason I believe this could be good long term is that we will have a lot more time to work on our long term no9, and we do not have to rush into anything. This could also itch the owners scratch for a standout world class signing, which long term could stop them forking out silly money for somebody deemed “world class”.
Lets look at the facts, Benzema is a leader, he is a finisher, he links play incredibly well, he steps up in key moments and is a born winner.
He hasn’t had the best of times in Saudi and is looking desperate to leave, but he has still got 17 G/A in 20 appearances, which is an incredible return really. A G/A every 99 minutes, which is something we could really deal with right now.
We all know how good this man is and you don’t need me to tell you that, BUT what I do need to tell you is how important this man could be for us this season. I genuinely believe with Benzema we would win the Carabao Cup, go far in the FA Cup & have a real chance of finishing between 4th-6th in the league.
I wouldn’t be against an 18-month deal as long as we do not have to pay a transfer fee (or a minimal one) it goes without saying as all reliable reports have stated that Benzema will have to take a MAMMOTH pay cut, bet it seems as though he is more than prepared to do so.
I am so on the fence as to whether this will happen but I do believe this could be further down the line than any of us know, something I predicted to Si at 13.08 today, before any media speculation had re-circulated.
I love Armando Broja and think there is real potential there and a 6-month loan to be a constant starting no9 somewhere could re-ignite his career, but also if we get an offer of 35m+ I think we have to take it.
Thank you all for reading and as always please give me your thoughts in the comments below
Luke Rushbrook
Would fit what we currently lack. I am a bit worried about the finances tho..
I agree with so much of what you said Luke but if Broja Is to make a career as a striker it won’t be at Chelsea, the ball doesn’t stick to him and he makes Peter Crouch look as though he wasn’t just a gangly beanpole who happened to get lucky and score.
I don’t rate Broja at all as a striker and last night I found myself wondering if his true position should be midfield.
