Mason Mount key for Lampard, Southgate, and now Tuchel - Perhaps it's time to drop the hate?
When the whole world is against your 'opinion,' it might be time to re-evaluate
Mason Mount scored for England to put them 2-0 up against Albania on Sunday evening, and once again the haters were silent.
Are there actually any haters left still? You can bet your bottom dollar there is, oddly.
By haters, I mean people who have abused Mount, took on mean and clear agendas against him, digging him out for every little thing he might not have done right in their eyes, or plainly just overly-criticised him in the last couple of years.
It’s totally OK to criticise a player of a team you support, that is entirely normal. But when it becomes an obsession, and when it becomes hate - this is where you might want to take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself why you are like this.
Mount is just 22-years old, and he has broken into the men’s game over the last few years. Nobody said he is a perfect player, not even Mason himself will say that. Nobody is saying that he doesn’t have areas he needs to vastly improve in - every young player does.
But if you cannot see the clear ability and talent that the Chelsea and England midfielder has, then there is no helping you.
Frank Lampard, who also happened to be one of the best not only English midfielders the game has ever seen, but one of the best in the world, rates Mason Mount.
Gareth Southgate, a man who also played regularly at the top level for club and country, rates Mason Mount.
Thomas Tuchel, highly regarded as one of the best current coaches in the game, rates Mason Mount.
The majority of Chelsea fans, and even football fans, rate Mason Mount.
Every single football pundit out there broadcasting right now, rates Mason Mount.
Perhaps all of this is just a pure coincidence, right? Wrong.
Mount’s ceiling is ridiculously high. He has it all set out in front of him to become one of the best English midfielders since Frank Lampard, and he is getting better by the game.
Mount was made Chelsea captain by Lampard, which sparked the comeback of the whole weird ‘Mason Mount’s son’ thing by a small section of Chelsea fans who claimed he was only being picked because he was Lampard’s ‘teachers pet.’ Sure….
Then, after dropping Mount on his first game in charge, which of course sparked a flurry of excitement from the Mount haters club, Tuchel has since gone on to pretty much select Mount for every match, even making him captain as well recently. Oh…
You could almost hear the screams of tears coming from some of the haters basements… In fact, I think some of them have disappeared, or at least remained painfully quiet over the last few weeks, because Mount’s fan base seems to be ever-growing!
After making his England debut in September 2019, Mount has gone on to get 15 caps for his country, scoring 4 goals along the way. Which is super impressive at such a young age.
This quote from Southgate after England’s win at the weekend pretty much sums it up and ends the article perfectly…
“I was saying this [that Mount is an exceptional talent] in the autumn.
“I suppose now Thomas Tuchel picks him probably everybody will agree. When it was Frank [Lampard] it didn’t count for some reason but he’s an exceptional player.
“He finds space intelligently, he manipulates the ball very well, he creates chances, he can score goals. I thought his performance was excellent.”
Mic drop! BOOM!
