Good Evening, Ladies and Gents,
Welcome back to the 23/24 season loan army report. This is a summary of what our loan players have been up to over the last week or two.
Remember I don’t include players who are out on loan with a Buy Option.
Lets get into it……
Gaga Slonina:
A couple of average performances for Gaga in the last 2 games, 5 goals conceded, 2 losses and nothing to shout about, from the ratings I read weekly is worst 2 performances of the season, but I have no context to add to that.
I have connected with a Eupen fan on X and they are adamant Gaga will be their player of the season by some distance this season.
Bashir Humphreys:
Bash has struggled of late, he had an excellent first 3/4 months of his loan spell which has turnt into a more hit and miss last 4/5 weeks. In this period they have changed manager and had an interim in charge for a while which is bound to disrupt the group.
He has played 96 minutes of the last 180 available.
Tino Anjorin:
Tino is still injured, due back very soon.
Omari Hutchinson:
Omari is continuing to make impact after impact no matter the amount of minutes he is given, he has played 108 of the last 270 available minutes across 3 games, he scored a last minute equaliser v West Brom at the weekend and then got the assist for the first girl in last nights 4-0 win away to Millwall.
He has 8 G/A in 1420 minutes, averaging a goal or assist just under every other match. Not bad for his first season in senior football. If he can reach 10 G/A it’ll be a very good return.
Harvey Vale:
Harvey has missed 2 of the last 4 games with illness, having previously played 90 & 86 minutes in the 2 games before, he has been back at Cobham this week.
Charlie Webster:
Two more unused sub roles for Charlie in recent games
Mason Burstow:
A mixed bag for Mason over the last 3 games, he has started one, been unused once and came off the bench for 10 minutes in one. He hasn’t been able to nail down a starting place in a very competitive Sunderland attack.
David Datro Fofana:
This loan has started very well for Datro, after an assist on his debut away at City (on the previous report), he came off the bench again at hoe to Fulham and scored 2 goals to earn his side a draw.
He started the following game away to Liverpool which Burnley lost 3-1, he had 2 really good chances to score and on another day probably slots at least one away.
Angelo Gabriel:
Angelo has started 2 of the last 3 getting an assist against PSG and putting good performances in both games.
He was not in the squad in the last game, due to injury I believe.
Dion Rankine:
Dion has been a used substitute in 3 of the last 4 and started the other game for Exeter, he has accumulated 148 minutes of the last 360 available.
Alex Matos:
Alex has been doing really well for Huddersfield putting in some excellent performances and even getting his first goal for the club away to Southampton at the weekend, it took a massive looping deflection but nonetheless it will give him massive confidence moving forward.
Jamie Cumming:
Jamie missed one game due to injury but has since recovered to play both of the last 2 games for Oxford, winning one and drawing one, no clean sheets unfortunately but two good solid performances from what I have read/researched.
Eddie Beach:
Eddie has missed the last 2 fixtures due to illness, he did however get his first clean sheet at the club in the game before.
Ian Maatsen:
Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month, he has taken to life in Germany really well. He has been trusted highly by the manager and is being used as an inverted full back into centre-midfield a lot, something that he did for Vincent Kompany’s side a little bit.
I have caught 1 and a bit of his games, and he is playing really well out there, I think the slightly slower German league does help him as a full back if I am honest, I am still a little reserved on his defensive abilities. His attacking threat however is excellent.
Armando Broja
Armando has played 16 minutes in each of his 2 appearance for Fulham so far, as he signed for the club Rodrigo Muniz has suddenly turnt into prime R9 and is keeping Armando on the bench for now.
Andrey Santos
Andrey has today signed all of his paperwork and trained with Strasbourg for the first time.
Thanks for reading.
Luke Rushbrook
Thanks Luke, I love these reviews and it’s really good to see how these players are progressing out on on loan. Which if any do you think will be part of the first team squad next season.
Thanks much Luke.. Great work with these reviews. Gaga’s loan is kind of not super encouraging. Unsure it’s the league or my metrics are way too high with benchmark being Levi’s loan or Conor’s loan.
Really pleased for Maatsen and DDF .. Next season I am hoping we will have European loans for these youngsters. We had to use 3 loan slots this season for players we couldn’t sell.. so next season they will most likely be vacated imo.
