Good Morning Ladies and Gents,
Lets see what our loan army have been up to this week…….
Teddy Sharman-Lowe (Doncaster Rovers) - Goalkeeper;
A 2-1 win away at Swindon last week for Teddy where he made 2 saves from 3 shots on target, and getting a 7/10 match rating. He also made another 2 saves at home to Bromley on Tuesday night in a game that Doncaster lost at home to Bromley 1-0.
Ted Curd (Hampton & Richmond) - Goalkeeper;
A 3-0 loss away to Truro last weekend for Ted’s side. Followed up by a 3-1 win at home to Eastbourne in midweek. Ted is getting lots of minutes in England’s 6th tier, a great experience for the 18 year old.
Eddie Beach (Crawley Town) - Goalkeeper;
Eddie is still out injured currently.
Gaga Slonina (Barnsley) - Goalkeeper;
A 2-1 win away to Blackpool last weekend for Gaga who made 3 saves on the way to 3 points for his side. Who then played in midweek and drew 2-2 at home to Charlton, Gaga made a further 3 saves in this game. A good week for Gaga albeit no clean sheet he has made 6 saves and accumulated an average of 7.2/10.
Alfie Gilchrist (Sheffield United) - Right Back;
Disappointingly Alfie didn’t start last Friday away to Leeds, I say disappointing as I watched the game! He came on for the last 30 and unfortunately didn’t have too much impact in the 2-0 defeat, Sheffield United’s first defeat of the season. He was back in the starting lineup for the midweek trip up to Middlesbrough which ended in a 1-0 defeat and 87 minutes played for Alfie.
Dylan Williams (Burton Albion) - Left Back/Wing Back;
Dylan started away to Bolton last weekend where he actually played quite well but came off with a knock, Burton lost that game 2-1. Burton then played Wycombe in midweek in a game where they probably should have won and they lost 3-2 which was their 7th defeat in a row (all comps) and leaves them with just 4 points (all draws) from 11 league games. That form has now cost former Blues academy coach Mark Robinson his job, he was sacked after the Wycombe game.
Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors) - Centre Back;
A 1-1 draw (won on penalties), a goal and MOTM for Anselmino in last nights Copa Argentina quarter final. As expected at 19 he is slightly inconsistent but there is some real promise in this lad and he is playing lots of minutes in an incredibly physical league.
Caleb Wiley (RC Strasbourg) - Left Back/Wing Back;
Caleb is still out with injury.
Andrey Santos (RC Strasbourg) - Centre Midfield;
Even though his side lost 4-2 away to PSG, Andrey got a 7/10 rating with no goal involvements is quite impressive. I have seen a small compilation and as we discussed on the Wednesday podcast, Andrey will fit in so well in this system under Maresca next season.
Bashir Humphreys (Burnley) - Centre Back;
A 2-0 away win to Sheffield Wednesday, 90 minutes and MORM for Bash last weekend, he has firmly forced himself into Burnley’s main starting XI. He was rested in a heavily rotated Burnley team for Tuesday nights 1-1 draw away to Hull, where he played the final 8 minutes.
Lesley Ugochukwu (Southampton) - Holding Midfield;
Lesley has been unlucky to fall victim to a bench role at Southampton, he started well and unfortunately had a couple of bad games back to back where Russell Martin decided to make wholesale changes and he now is unable to work his way back in currently.
Southampton have a Carabao cup fixture next midweek which will probably throw up an opportunity for Lesley to play and stake a claim. Somebody compared this loan to Andrey Santos’ Nottingham Forest loan last season, it isn’t comparable for me, Lesley played more minutes on his debut then Santos did in 5 months at Forest. He’s made 6 appearances and been an unused sub 3 times.
Armando Broja (Everton) - Striker;
Still injured.
Kendry Paez (Independiente del Valle) - No.10/Attacker;
Paez is now starting to work his minutes back up after an injury and some load management in recent weeks. He played really well in a 40 minute appearance last weekend. I expect his numbers to start increasing over the coming weeks.
Estevao Willian (Palmeiras) - Right Winger;
Normality has restored for Estevao, 85 minutes, 1 goal, 1 assist and MOTM for the Brazilian star!
Neymar paid Estevao some incredible compliments last week, this boy is special!
Djordje Petrovic - (Strasbourg) - Goalkeeper;
Djordje maid 6 saves against PSG last weekend, there’s only so much you can do as a Goalkeeper sometimes. Lots of minutes, and lots of svaes for Djordje so far. A good loan spell.
Trevoh Chalobah (Crystal Palace) - Centre Back;
Trev played the full 90 and played well for Palace against Forest in the unfortunate 1-0 loss on Monday night. Palace strike me as a team that need a win and then they’ll go on a run after that. their squad is too good not to.
Ronnie Stutter (Burton Albion) - Striker;
Ronnie hasn’t been involved in the last 2, haven’t seen confirmation but the rumour is another injury.
Leo Castledine (Shrewsbury Town) - Attacking Midfield;
A 1-0 loss to Bristol Rovers last weekend and another 74 minutes played for Leo who is gaining invaluable experience during this loan spell albeit the goal involvements have dried up, temporarily we hope!
Mike Penders (Genk) - Goalkeeper
A new addition to loan army, albeit info will be lmited weekly, he currently is the starting Genk U23 Goalkeeper and travels with the first team as the no2, so limited info to research for Mike. Will provide any when I find some.
Just to confirm I am not updating on Raheem Sterling or Kepa Arrizabalaga on purpose.
Thanks for reading.
