LATEST! Sourced snippets on Onana & Cherki, Our take on the GK situation, Nicolas Jackson confirmed, Vlahovic, Pochettino, and much more...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 3rd July 2023!
Good morning people!
I hope everybody is well and enjoying their Summer and the transfer window so far.
The club have done an incredible job with outgoings, recouping over £200m in transfer fees already, which is simply remarkable. With a few more outgoings to come, it can’t be long until the focus fully turns to incomings. On Friday night, our new striker Nicolas Jackson was announced on an 8 year deal from Villarreal and Si has left his thoughts on that signing here.
News around Romelu Lukaku’s future should become clearer soon whilst Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount’s departures are also close to completion. With a mega squad clear out being undertaken, following some worrying reports, one player who we believe must be moved on is Kepa Arrizabalaga. And if this isn’t possible, then he really needs to be confirmed as maximum 2nd choice between the sticks. There are an absolute plethora of reasons to support an almost unanimous opinion amongst our fanbase. The Score has given his thoughts on that here, whilst I really delve in on mine here. I strongly urge you to check my article out as I explain why we CANNOT afford to go into another season with Kepa as our starting keeper, or at least if we want to have a successful season.
Back to incomings! We put out some sourced news on two popular targets in Rayan Cherki and Andre Onana on Saturday. You can read that here, where I also express why I (like most) would really like us to sign Onana, a tremendous goalkeeper. Regarding incomings, there are also some sourced snippets on Dusan Vlahovic, amongst all the other news, in a live blog that I kept open over the weekend. Feel free to catch up on everything that went on here.
In what was a busy weekend here on the site, The Score also wrote an excellent article on why he believes Pochettino can be our dynasty manager here, in addition to a well balanced two part series giving his opinion on everything happening at the club now. The first part can be read here, and the second here.
See you all on the live blog later this morning as the crazy world of Chelsea continues!
