LATEST! Pochettino arrives, His Philosophy, The Club Captaincy, Reece James, Recruitment Balance, and much more...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 4th July 2023!
Good morning people.
And a Happy 4th of July to all of our Stateside subscribers, and our American ownership contingent!
Yesterday Mauricio Pochettino was at Cobham as the plans for next season really start to take shape. Poch produced an incredible introductory interview, alongside some great photos in Chelsea merch. This is all on the live blog which you can check out here.
Ahead of his return to the site today, Si left us an article about the importance of recruitment balance, where he shares his reason for optimism about the current state of play regarding transfers. Our recruitment team are working hard, and we believe they will ensure we head into the season with a strong squad. You can read Si’s thoughts on why, right here…
Another pressing issue, with the pending departure of Cesar Azpilicueta, is the matter of club captaincy. With a young squad, it is vital the correct decision is made in this instance. The Score gives his thoughts on why the armband needs to go to Reece James, as well as why we are so lucky to have Reece at the club here. I agree with his opinion, whilst I also speak about how we can, and must, create an environment where leaders are born, and encouraged to step up and accept responsibility. It is definitely worth a read so feel free to take a look here!
Lastly, a friend of the show Ryan Gunness penned an insightful contribution article exploring Pochettino’s attacking philosophy and principles in great detail. It is a free article, and if you are interested in the tactical side of the game you should definitely check it out here.
See you all back on the live blog later this morning, as the main man Si returns.
