LATEST! Emile Smith Rowe approach, James to take a leaf out Sterling's book, Fabregas bang on with Chelsea opinion, AFC Wimbledon preview, Transfer news roundups, and more...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Wednesday 30th August 2023!
Morning all,
I’m off to London a bit later today to watch the mighty Blues play AFC Wimbledon in the second round of The League Cup!
I have my preview and predictions article for the build up to the game here. Please be aware that the live blog will not be normal today. I’ll be starting it as normal but obviously I won’t be able to update it frequently in the afternoon. I will round up any Chelsea news on it when I get back to my Hotel room in London after the game :)
As well as a game to be played, we are bang in the middle of the final week of the long summer transfer window, with it slamming shut this Friday evening. Chelsea are still trying to get an attacker in the door, could that man be Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe? Well, there has certainly been some official contact on our part, and you can get the very latest on that in the live blog from yesterday here. This also has the latest on any other potential attacker names who we could look to bring in during these finals days, and all the rest of the latest news roundups. Could Raphinha or Ansu Fati also be an option? Quite possibly… LOADS of sourced info in this article!
I also wrote my opinion on Smith Rowe and why I’d be happy if we did sign him in this one here. Chelsea have had an approach knocked back but could go in with another.
Reece James could well take a leaf out of Raheem Sterling’s book in the face of his latest injury. Sterling has reportedly changed up his diet and training regime to combat hamstring issues, could James now do the same? He should do and probably is, but you can read all about that here.
Finally, we all loved watching Cesc Fabregas play football in a Chelsea shirt and he is one of those with a naturally intelligent footballing mind. He is now going to be using that in a coaching capacity. News on that in here as well as his comments on current Chelsea and what to expect this season and next season.
OK that’s it for now. I’ll have articles out today as usual and I’ll be firing that live blog up shortly. But remember, it wont be regular today due to me traveling up to London and then heading to meet the boys before the game tonight!
Peace, Si.
