LATEST! Ben Jacobs column, My frustrations after being at City, Lampard should move to boardroom, Mendel-Idowu exit will be another regret, Plus loads more!
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 23rd May 2023
Morning all,
Wow, the blog went absolutely nuts yesterday and there wasn’t even any news really going out! I think it might our second highest comments ever on an article. If anyone in the boardroom needs to gauge a feel of our fanbase right now and see what we are thinking, I’d recommend the comments section on yesterday’s live blog here.
It was really quite telling that so many of you wished to voice your views yesterday. It really does show where we are at right now. Many of us are losing the faith and feeling very glum. Positivity is fading.
I was at the Manchester City game on Sunday evening and the away end was dead, you could really feel and sense the depression amongst the Blues faithful, it’s been a while since I’ve felt it like that. I’ve got my general thoughts on that, the situation, and on my Etihad experience here.
Ben Jacobs had his latest exclusive column out for us yesterday, and as always he covered a lot. You can get the latest on Mount to Arsenal, Rice, Caicedo, Lavia, Ugarte, Osimhen, Vlahovic, and Pochettino updates here.
Meanwhile, Chelsea youngster Tudor Mendel-Idowu is reportedly set to leave this summer and will not be renewing our contract. He is one of many top young players we have in our academy with questions marks over their futures, and I truly believe this is one we will end up regretting a lot if he does go. Find out why here.
Frank Lampard continues to frustrate me and many others with his decisions and coaching. Personally it’s got me questioning his coaching pedigree and I honestly believe that his niche is in a board room role, and they should look at giving him something at Chelsea - more on that here.
That’s it for today. Remember, I go on holiday Wednesday morning for a week so tomorrow will be the last newsletter until I am back. But Charlie, Macca, and Rob will still be bringing content in my absence. If you missed it, you can get all the details on that here.
Have a good one.
Peace, Si.
