The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 5th October 2023!
Morning all,
It’s been an enjoyable week in terms of football so far. Chelsea have won their last two games and things are looking a little more encouraging, Manchester United’s slump continues, and Arsenal also lost in Europe! We have to absolutely take these moments and enjoy them, I don’t even care about the fact that Chelsea aren’t even in Europe! I’m still laughing at United!
Let’s hope the good feels continue this weekend with a win against Burnley. I’ll have my big preview article out on that later today.
Before then, let’s get into today’s articles.
Robert Sanchez’s form has been good so far since he joined Chelsea this summer, and long may that continue. For me, he was an instant upgrade to Kepa Arrizabalaga, who wants to stay in Spain next summer, and I say great. Because in Sanchez we have a better keeper in terms of physical facts, and I explain that all here.
Another clear improvement I have seen from last season is our collective team spirit. It’s been there all season so far even when we weren’t winning games. The way the players rally around their team mates like Mykhailo Mudryk coming through tough situations and will him to succeed is exactly the kind of thing we needed from our squad this season. Our change in team spirit is down to Mauricio Pochettino and the owners, and I explain why here.
And one other thing that Pochettino finally got right on Monday night was the midfield balance and the shape of it. It worked a treat and really drew the best out of players like Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher. I have Will Reyner on hand to explain why here in his weekly column for us!
Now to the favourite part of the week for many of you, the latest set of polls. You can make decisions on Osimhen, Toney, Abraham, Cucurella, Gallagher, Maatsen, rating players from Fulham game, and looking ahead to Burnley in here.
