Just how much pressure is Frank Lampard now under?
The heat appears to be on now for Lampard - A look at exactly where we are at right now...
No shouting, no emotions, no reactions - just pure soulless expressions from Chelsea boss Frank Lampard on the side lines of Stamford Bridge last night.
His side had just been easily beaten by Manchester City, and the awful run of form continues.
But Lampard cut not only a frustrated figure, but one who is running out of answers…
The situation is concerning to say the least, reports of player unrest, and reliable reports that Lampard’s job is now under threat - this situation often ends in the manager being sacked.
Some have even suggested Chelsea are talking about potential replacements, but we understand there isn’t too much in that and this happens at every club regardless.
Lampard is now statistically the worst manager in the Roman Abramovich era - this is factual. Whether you like to judge by stats or not, this is serious.
Football is a results based business, and Lampard WILL get sacked if results continue to slump. But right now, that is as far as it goes.
Lampard has been given a vote of confidence if you like, and will be given time to turn things around. Our guy Dan McCarthy had even reported last night that for now at least, Lampard’s job is safe.
Lampard could also still be afforded until the end of the season, unless he has another run like this one - then things could change in an instant and he could be out the door.
If Lampard manages to steady the ship again and gets the team back to winning ways, he will be safe. But if this slump continues, I am not so sure he will get many more chances.
Abramovich has proven in the past to be ruthless - if the team are not playing well and spend a significant amount of time outside the top ten, he will get rid, it really is as simple as that. And Lampard is not immune from that despite who he is.
Lampard is walking a tight rope, but he IS still walking on it, for now.
So...if AVB's team went on to win the UCL, is FL on for the double?
