Italian source confirms Chelsea's Donnarumma talks
After we reported the news over the weekend, further details are emerging on the potential deal
Over the weekend we bought you the big news that Chelsea had entered talks with the agent of AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 21-year old goalkeeper becomes a free agent in the summer, and as from January the 1st, he was allowed to negotiate a new contract with any other club.
Furthermore, today Italian publication Sport Mediaset have also reported that Chelsea are in talks, and they have some more details for us.
Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola is keen for his client to accept the terms offered by both Chelsea and PSG, who have both initiated contact.
The figures proposed by the two clubs for the Rossoneri goalkeeper are a contract worth 12-14 million euros a year.
This is double what Donnarumma is on right now.
Raiola would like to immediately say yes to the suitors, but as per the Italian reports, Donnarumma’s is priority is to stay at Milan.
But it remains to be seen whether the Italian club will put a new offer on the table to match the others, and the next few weeks will remain crucial for the goalkeeper’s future.
We believe that Edouard Mendy was always a stop gap signing for Chelsea, with Donnarumma being the priority on a free. However, it will be a tough signing to make seeing as he wants to stay in Milan as things stand.
