Internationals Here, Internationals There
How have our blues faired when representing their countries in the past week?
Good evening Ladies and Gents,
Sorry for the late posting, here is a breakdown of our international players over the last week or so.
Levi Colwill
Levi played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Australia on Friday night, he played the game at left back and was really solid throughout defensively and as usual played some brilliant passes in to pockets and breaking lines.
He did pick up a silly yellow card for a spat with one of the Australian players but that was his only negative in a really good International debut, he was an unused sub in the 3-1 win v Italy last night.
Conor Gallagher
Con played 61 minutes of England’s win over Australia, also picking up a yellow card, but other than that I thought he was good.
He made some excellent underlapping runs and linked well with Bowen, he was his usual energetic self and got stuck into the Australian midfield. Unlucky to be substituted but that is the nature of the beast with International football, also an unused sub v Italy last night.
Malo Gusto
Malo was due to be away with the U21s until a last minute call up to the senior side, which was a pleasant surprise for him.
He played 11 minutes from the bench in France’s 2-1 nations league victory over Holland which saw them qualify to EURO 2024, he was an unused sub v Scotland last night
Djordje Petrovic
Petrovic was an unused sub in Serbia’s only game of this int’l break.
Mykhailo Mudryk
Misha started both games this int’l break, and played 176 out of 180 mins, which gave him some much needed confidence.
A fairly quiet game v North Macedonia yet was still involved with some good moments.
Against Malta he was the star of the show, he was a thorn in the side of Malta all night, he won a penalty which was converted and then scored this outrageous goal!

Enzo Fernandez
Enzo was his usual self for Argentina, he played 169 out of 180 minutes and registered an assist for Lionel Messi v Peru.
He registered 92% passing accuracy across both games and dominated the play as he pretty much always does in midfield, he was industrious, lively and completely controlled both games from midfield, he just gets better and better
Moises Caicedo
Moises as he does played 180 out of a possible 180 minutes during this break, registering 2 assists in Ecuador’s 2-1 win over Bolivia, and a MOTM performance to top it off.
He also was superb against Ecuador in a 0-0 draw, he is getting better and better, after a hectic summer he is really starting to settle down and play his best football, he improves constantly and will continue to do so!
Noni Madueke
Where do I start with this lad, he dominates every U21 game he plays in none more so than the Serbia game last Thursday which England won 9(nine!!)-1, scoring twice in the 67 minutes he played doesn’t even tell the story, he was involved constantly and every time he got the ball it looked like it would end up in the back of the net.
Against Ukraine on Monday he started the game as a centre forward and moved out to his natural right hand side midway through the second half, he scored what looked like the first of a comeback for England, it didn’t materialise and England after getting it back to 2-2 ended up losing in the 94th minute.
Cole Palmer
Cole played 51 minutes of England’s 9-1 victory over Serbia which unfortunately was cut short due to a dead leg, he is fine and should be involved Saturday.
It would have been a proud day for the lad who captained his country for the first time!
Lucas Bergstrom
Lucas completed both of his countries U21 matches v Albania and Romania respectively, unfortunately I cannot find much footage or any statistics to report further.
Lesley Ugochukwu
Lesley played for France’s U21 managed by Thierry Henry, and they are flying at the moment, he played the full 90 in their 2-1 victory over Bosnia and 58 minutes v Cyprus in a 9-0 victory.
Again statistics are at a minimum for these games, I know that the French media are raving about Henry’s U21s having been won all games since he has taken over.
This article has replace our usual loan roundup which will be back next week.
