Explained: Do Chelsea need to worry about FFP and what do we need to do to avoid it? Chelsea fans all for short-term ST idea - Benzema and Mitrovic favoured, Mudryk: One year in, Luke Rushbrook....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Wednesday 17th January 2024!
Morning all,
Yesterday was an eventful one that’s for sure. Chelsea were bidding £75m for a new striker, a rumour that was shut down quicker than it started. And then Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho got sacked by Roma and Blues fans were pining for him back at Stamford Bridge! It’s about time this transfer window livened up a bit!
You can follow along with all of that as it happened in yesterday’s live blog here. This also covers ALL your Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the same place, anything from transfer rumours to quotes!
On Monday it was revealed that Chelsea had not broken any profit and sustainability rules and would not face any charges, so we are safe from FFP for the next 12 months. However, we still need to keep an eye on things and there are a number of situations we need to address to stay compliant. The Score has explained it all in his latest article in what is a very handy FFP ‘handbook’ as such so you can all see where we are at and what is need to stay compliant in here.
Back to the new striker talk now and it could be that Chelsea turn to a short-term option. Is this something that our community favours here? Absolutely, it certainly is, and you can see that in the poll results in here. Chelsea fans also favour a move for Karim Benzema or Aleksander Mitrovic, but not so much for Roberto Firmino. All that and more in this one.
Monday marked a year to the day since Chelsea signed winger Mykhailo Mudryk. It’s been far from rosy for Mudryk so far in his Chelsea career, but have we yet to see the best of him? It’s not been straightforward at all, and there have been many unprecedented issues for Mudryk to face. I assess his time as a Blue so far in here and also, asking the community on here to assess him too.
And finally for today’s newsletter, we have Luke anchoring up with his latest article here. Today he has given his opinion on new strikers, mentioned some names he really likes, and gives a general overview of the situation right now.
Join me on the live blog from around 8am this morning!
Peace, Si.
