Explained: Chelsea's European qualification fate & Bournemouth preview, I'm completely open minded on everything going into final game, Nkunku can lock down left side, News roundups, More...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 17th May 2024!
Morning all,
We are into the final weekend of the 2023/24 football season with Chelsea playing out their final game at home against Bournemouth on Sunday.
There is a lot to be decided on Sunday from the top to the bottom of the league and a bit in the middle too. And for Chelsea, it is whether we get Europa League football or not. Although, as I explain in my Bournemouth match preview in here, we are likely to have to wait until the outcome of The FA Cup final to know our fate, regardless of our result on Sunday.
It’s been a very up and down season, and I plan to review it in full next week. But Chelsea are ending it very strong, and praise and applause should be given for that. It does paint a much better picture for next season, but I’m still not getting ahead of myself and staying cautiously optimistic for now. I’ve written my latest stance on Mauricio Pochettino and many other things at the club right now in here. I’m staying open minded to anything and everything :)
Christopher Nkunku finally bought out the balloon celebration this week grabbing what turned out to be the winning goal against Brighton. It’s been a long time coming, and Nkunku has only made 13 appearances in his debut season. He is likely to start on Sunday in the absence of Mykhailo Mudryk, and off the back of that I have written here how I think (hope) he can lock down that left attacking position for us next season.
Round up all your general Chelsea news and transfer rumours in the same place from the last 24 hours in here next. This is where you’ll find links to a new winger, the latest on Estevao Willian to Chelsea, and much more!
Luke has been writing a BUMPER loan army report for the site but because it’s so big and has so much info to catch up on, he’s not managed to file it in time for the newsletter. However, it will be out later today, bringing you some bonus Friday content once again this week! Do loom forward to that later, I know I am!
That’s it for now, but if you missed it yesterday, we also had the latest Podcast with myself and Jai speaking on the Brighton win and many other current situations and news items from the week. You can catch that here.
If anything pops off before Sunday I’ll jump on the Substack App chat section as always. Otherwise, I’ll be back on Sunday for the latest set of content and to cover the Bournemouth game.
Have a great weekend people!
UTC!
Peace, Si.
