It's almost a year to the day since Chelsea's current owners officially took charge. And it's been 12 months of drama and turbulence. The ambition can't be faulted, but obviously Chelsea finishing 12th was not the aim and is not good enough.
That said, let's not forget that Chelsea Women completed a brillant domestic league-FA Cup double. Emma Hayes continues to do a fantastic job. Magdalena Eriksson and Pernille Harder both departing will be felt very sorely by Chelsea, but USWNT star Catarina Macario appears to be coming in from Lyon and would be an outstanding signing.
Stability is key now at all levels of the club. And that's why Mauricio Pochettinoâs arrival will hopefully start to settle things down. It was always a long-term project, but thereâs no doubt things havenât gone as expected in the first year.
