It's been a whirlwind 48 hours for Chelsea. A heavy loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup was followed by a series of internal recruitment meetings resulting in a fast move for Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix.
At the time of writing (Tuesday morning) a verbal agreement is in place for a loan until the end of the season. Chelsea will pay about £9m in a loan fee and cover 100% of Felix's wages (£5.3m).
The loan deal can be considered practically complete with Felix now making plans to travel to London for his medical. But there is still some back and forth between the clubs on logistics. Also don't be surprised if Atletico announce the move quickly. Whereas English clubs wait until after the medical, Atleti may wish to make the news official as soon as possible, especially if they can spin it as a contract extension.
