EXCL: Chelsea move forward with summer transfer plans regardless of Pochettino future with new left back and centre back names targeted (revealed in this)
BUMPER transfer plans updates for the summer on new strikers, wingers, midfielders, centre backs, and left backs (updates on MANY names in this)
I’m back on this site today and I am back with my niche article, a transfer news updates article, and this one is BIG!
As I have mentioned a few times of late, Chelsea are determined to try and stick with manager Mauricio Pochettino until the summer and then assess things at that time. They do have a shortlist of potential options to replace Pochettino in the summer, but no approaches or solid talks have been held as of yet and this is just a bit of due diligence being made.
Although they want to try and stick with Pochettino until the summer, things could change fast and they also have potential interim options in mind should they need to pull the trigger sooner. More poor results and performances in the next 2-3 games could easily see them decide to sack Pochettino. I understand that Hansi Flick is one potential option as an interim, should that be a decision they make. Flick is in regular contact with Chelsea’s owners, as he has been for some time.
But I must reiterate, all I am hearing out of the club at the moment is that they wish to try and get to the summer with Pochettino, and the belief is that there has been some progress made despite the league position.
The owners are also feeling the fan pressure and are fully aware that Pochettino has failed to create a connection, so this is also a big thing they have been looking at.
New manager names for the summer I have spoken a lot about lately, but as what is already out there, names like Ruben Amorim top our shortlist at the moment.
But regardless of Pochettino and whether he will still be here come the summer and beyond or not, transfer plans are continuing and ramping up for the summer.
Before that, it is my personal opinion that I believe Pochettino will depart at the very latest in the summer, whether that is him walking or being sacked. I just can’t see a future with him continuing past the summer here anymore and I think deep down, everyone involved is well aware of that.
Chelsea will be active in selling players this summer before the end of June and regardless of what is being put out right now and agent attempts to calm things, there aren’t too many players that the club would not at least listen to offers for in the summer, including Raheem Sterling. More on outgoings as and when in the coming weeks, but the club expect to make some good profits on selling players before they start another bit of a shopping spree.
It wont be as crazy as we have seen in recent windows, but they will be busy, and there is a real chance (depending on outgoings) that we see a new left back, centre back, winger, and striker arrive in the summer. A source even says that there has been discussions about signing a new centre midfielder as well, but that is dependent on other circumstances and sales.
