EXCL: 5 left backs now on Chelsea's radar, plus general January transfer plans as things HEAT UP!
Some big general transfer updates in here on LBs, CB, and STs....
The January transfer window is now 14 days old and so far, things have remained pretty quiet at Stamford Bridge.
But could that all be about to change?
Exclusive and sourced updates on a number of potentially developing stories to come below, as things look to heat up now.
As I’ve been reporting here for months now, Mauricio Pochettino holds a real importance for Premier League experience, and that is ideally what he wants to bring into his squad.
He said this after the Fulham game:"It is important to have players with experience of the Premier League. If we compared our players to Fulham's players, they have players who have played in the league for many years and us not too many. We talk about this is Chelsea, and yes, sure, but we are in a process to a build a team that are new. This is the type of game that can help us believe in the process."
The big question now is, will Pochettino get backed and if so, to what extent?
I don’t think any of us believe that we need another situation as we saw with Thomas Tuchel, basically being in charge of an entire window himself (at least in terms of targets). But also, if we are truly backing Pochettino as the guy to bring success back, then I think we have to listen to him and bring him what he wants, to a certain extent.
You’re seeing loads of targets linked with Chelsea right now, many from abroad, some from the Premier League. And this is because some of these links with come from what Pochettino wants, some will come from what the owners want, some will come from what the sporting directors and recruitment team want. In the end though, they will need to align.
Pochettino clearly has an emphasis in wanting more PL proven players in his squad, and that leads me to our first report in this article.
