Good Evening Ladies and Gents,
I keep repeating myself which is worrying…….. another quiet day on the Chelsea front.
Firstly a little sourced update from Si;
“Chelsea have a shortlist of potential new managers as part of due diligence. No new manager is being actively worked on and we have not spoken to anyone as of this time. Plan is to continue with Pochettino and assess in summer. As I said yesterday, more bad results a one a poor run could easily change their minds.”
Verdict: Same as yesterday from me, they are trying to save face, which I don’t blame them for, however I blame them for their mistakes, there is no suitable interim let Poch have the rest of the season and part in the summer.
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Claude Makélélé has been discussing Moisés Caicedo;
"He needs to learn." "He’s an amazing player. If Chelsea don’t give him the platform with these details, he will struggle, it will be difficult, and he won’t play at a higher level than he was before with Brighton. He needs to learn to read; it’s very important for people to give him this message."
"I know in football, anywhere — not just Chelsea — some players don’t have the DNA of the club. When you buy one club, you need to understand the background, and how difficult it is to be at that level."
Verdict: Claude is one of the best players ever to play that position (although the position has slightly changed) Moises could do with reading, listening and letting all that sink in. He has been overly criticised due to his price tag and that is expected he has had a decent-ish start but it goes without saying improvement is needed.
From BlueCoXtra on Twitter (X);
Josh Marsh resumes his new role at BlueCo as Global Loan Manager after leaving Swansea City Football Club. With an increasing number of players going out on loan, Chelsea has appointed Marsh to oversee the progress of their young talent while they play elsewhere.
Verdict: He has excellent pedigree and will hopefully improve upon some of the failed loans so far this season and hopefully start to scope out next seasons loans already.
From Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail;
“Chelsea insist they are still backing Pochettino. The hierarchy are naturally wary of what happened last season when they sacked Graham Potter in April and won only one of their remaining 10 Premier League games to finish 12th.”
Verdict: He has re-iterated what Si has said over the last couple of days basically, my thoughts remain the same.
From Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside;
"I’m not sure Chelsea are that convinced on Ivan Toney anymore, I think they’ve started to look at different kinds of strikers in terms of age."
Verdict: Fabrizio has always made the same points around Toney and Chelsea, but that has always gone against what Si has been told, I would still keep an eye on it from My Opinion.
From Mail Sport;
“Contacts close to Jose Mourinho have refused to say whether he would or would not be willing to come back, though they believe there is no appetite from #Chelsea. One individual involved in the new project has suggested it would send the wrong message.”
Verdict: I love the man but I really do not fancy a three-peat of him at Chelsea, lets remember what he did, appreciate that, and wish for better times ahead!
Thanks for reading.
See you tomorrow
