Djurgarden 1 Chelsea 4, Has Enzo Maresca had a dig at the owners/SDs? Nicolas Jackson takes on advice, Pedro Neto gives fine example of how to speak in public, News roundups, Much more...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 2nd May 2025!
Morning all,
Chelsea were in Sweden last night to take on Djurdgarden in the first leg of our Conference League semi-final match.
It was another easy Conference League tie as Chelsea all but cruise through to the final with the second leg still left to play.
You can grab all of my thoughts, debrief, ratings, conclusion and more here.
I pumped out some content before the game of course, and first of all I asked the question, did Enzo Maresca have a dig at the owners and sporting directors this week in his press conference? It certainly appeared that way to me. Read the quote, and my reactions here, as well as voting in some polls on what you thought about it.
Remember last week I praised Pedro Neto and Tyrique George for not thinking and just shooting on sight? Well, it looks like Nicolas Jackson took on some of that advice in the Everton game (and ironically again last night). Just circling back to this because it also deserves some praise and we also need to highlight how beneficial it is to play this way. Article in full here.
Speaking of Neto, he was also on pre-match press duties this week and I have to applaud him for his comments and how he spoke. Every person at Chelsea, whether staff or players, need to look at these quotes and learn from them. If you’re associated with Chelsea, THIS here is how you speak in public if you want fans on side. It’s really not difficult.

Have a great weekend all. Chelsea play Liverpool this coming Sunday at 4.30pm and we all know how huge this one is. We are all hoping that they are still hungover from winning the league! Any big news I get before then I’ll be on the Substack App chat section. Otherwise, see you all Sunday!
Peace, Si.
“There could be a double swoop on Hughes’ former club, with Liverpool also in the race to sign Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen, who has a £50m release clause.
The 20-year-old Spain international has the skill set to flourish under Slot but there is serious competition for his signature from Premier League rivals and further afield. Liverpool currently regard Chelsea as the front-runners”.
