City defeat reactions, RUBENtada, subscriber announcement, centre back situations..
All packed into our latest Chelsea FC Newsletter!
Morning all!
Hope you’re all doing well despite our first defeat of the season against Manchester City on Saturday.
We were always going to lose at some point, and the fact it came against a world class team with a world class manager makes it more bearable. However, it was the manner of defeat that also made it hard to swallow.
Here is my usual match review in my usual unique format - 5 things I noticed, where I dissect the game and give my own reactions.
Thomas Tuchel was left bemused and confused at the full time whistle on Saturday, but now he’s had more of a chance to reflect, I think he is spot on with his latest words and conclusions on the game here.
As he says, winning matches is about making your opponent underperform.
In the same article above you will find some very wise words as well from the in form Andreas Christensen.
One of the few positives from the game was the cameo role from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who was superb when he came on and has certainly staked a claim for a starting place.
Check out my piece on Loftus-Cheek here! We still have a few spaces left on the carriages of the Loftus-Cheek train if some of you wish to jump back on!?
Away from the pitch now, and the ever-looming situation of Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea contract is continuing to be a pressing concern for Chelsea.
His deal runs out in the summer of 2022, and he is free to agree a pre-contract with new clubs in less than four months now.
So what is the latest on this? And are Chelsea making contingency plans? Read my exclusive report on that here.
Finally, I have an announcement on this project that I wanted you all to be clear on and read about.
From October the 1st, you will still be able to read this article without paid subscription, but the linked in spin offs, our weekly Podcast, breaking news articles, and our insider exclusives will go behind a paywall.
We have offered up all of our content completely FREE of charge for the last year (yes, I’ve been doing this a year now!), but for many reasons, that you can read about in this article here, we are now going to paid subscriptions for our content, but this just means our content will get better and better and it’s an exciting time to be a part of the S&DTC community as we take this next step in our growth and progression.
Thanks all, I’m at Stamford Bridge this Saturday for the Chelsea game if anyone wants to meet up for a beer and a chat before or after the game, please reply in the comments and we can link up!
