The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 4th April 2024!
Morning all!
Welcome to another Chelsea match day newsletter! The Blues welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge for the 8.15pm kick off tonight (why so late? Do they not realise some of us have babies and need our sleep!?).
It’s a game that would often be billed as a huge game in the title race, but such as these two football powerhouses have fallen, it’s become more of a midtable clash between two average teams. Chelsea are currently 12th in the league as we head into April, that is a sign of the struggles we are under and no matter how anyone wants to try and dress that up, it’s unacceptable. A win against United tonight will help pick us up a little bit, but that is a hard task alone. Read my full preview here!
We also had Sam from The United Stand on the Podcast yesterday to preview the game. Sam also gets a bit of Chelsea info so do make sure you tune into this one here if you haven’t already.
It’s impossible to go a day without speaking about Chelsea’s injuries right now, and after a report came out from The Athletic this week claiming that Levi Colwill was the latest Chelsea player to have played with an injury recently, I have dived into that in here. Are we really using injured players? If we are, that’s nothing short of a disgrace.
My other article today is on Enzo Fernandez. I’ve done a bit of video analysis in here, honing in on Enzo’s positioning. I think it’s criminal that he has played around 60% of this season in more advanced midfield roles. To get the very best out of Enzo, you must use him as a 6 in a double pivot, or with a destroyer behind him. I explain it all in the article.
Roundup all the rest of your latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in one place in yesterday’s live blog here. This covers Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-match presser for United as well as loads more news.
Luke is in the house to anchor things up now. Following up from my debate article on Roberto De Zerbi this week, Luke has given his opinion on whether Chelsea should be looking to hire him in the future or not here. De Zerbi certainly seems to split this fanbase in half!
Right, please do join me on the live blog today as we build up to our next match tonight. I’ll try stick some polls out to get that mood building for the game! See you all there!
Peace, Si.
