Chelsea step up pursuit of £30m Niklas Sule
The Blues hierarchy look to make a move for the German defender
This is a move that doesn’t appear to be collecting a lot of support from fans on social media, form what I have seen. However, whether you are for it or against it, Chelsea ARE very interested in signing Niklas Sule from Bayern Munich.
In fact, according to a very reliable report from The Athletic on Monday, The clubs hierarchy are holding discussions over putting an offer in for the 25-year old and claim they are now ‘stepping up their pursuit’ of him.
Thomas Tuchel likes the centre back and already has a close relationship with him, which will be the driving force behind this move.
As we told you recently, the club have already held some talks with Tuchel over this summers transfer plans, and we can only assume that Sule is a name that came up, and both are in sync with making this move.
With just one-year left on his current deal, Chelsea would be able to buy him for around £30 million, which is seen as a good investment from those at the club.
My Verdict?
His injury history concerns me, but I do think the 6ft 5in defender perhaps deserves more plaudits than he is getting.
But then in the same breathe, he certainly isn’t at the top of my list of centre backs we should sign, and I feel we should be prioritising other targets here instead.
Sule certainly isn’t a bad player though, and he is actually pretty fast for someone his size once he gathers momentum.
But is he the guy for Chelsea? No, not for me, we should be targeting elite players that evidently improve us instantly, and for me, Sule isn’t that.
