Morning Everyone!
I wanted to throw out a quick (not really quick) update this morning because this weekend I am babysitting my niece, and I am also playing football this afternoon. So if anything big comes out today I might not be on it, or at least not straight away. Any info I get I’ll bring as soon as I can.
Here is the very latest on the current situation:
Chelsea on track to sell
As I explained in my article last night, there was no need for the hysteria, and despite what was being reported such as bank accounts being frozen etc, nothing had/has changed and this was expected.
Late last night multiple media outlets broke news that the Government had given Roman Abramovich ‘the green light’ to sell Chelsea. Again, this was/is nothing new. They had ALWAYS stated he could still sell as long as he wasn’t going to profit at all from it. This has always been clear, and this has always remained the plan.
Raine Bank, the group selling Chelsea on Abramovich’s behalf, had paused negotiations for 24 hours when the sanction announcement came out just to allow it to settle and get some clearance on continuation, which they were always going to get. Since then, they’ve continued negotiations with potential new buyers and things are moving along nicely.
The Athletic believe we are now highly likely to get a sale within 4-6 weeks, I believe it will be sooner. I believe we might see some positive movements on this next week.
