Chelsea Newsletter - Wednesday 21st Sept
Covering: Latest on Freund U-turn, Sources on attacker targets, Cristiano Ronaldo and Douglas Luiz news, Addressing reporting, Goalkeeper situations, Plus all the latest CFC news...
Morning!
Well, I guess this Christoph Freund situation is at least keeping us all busy and giving us something to talk about in the absence of Chelsea matches and a transfer window!
As always in situations like this, contrasting reports, things changing, and clubs giving their briefings to the media outlets. RB Salzburg will now be keeping hold of Freund, confirmed by the man himself in what has been a very dramatic U-turn from him. I have many bits and pieces on it in the live blog from yesterday here, so that’s probably the best place to start first.
I also wrote a follow up addressing all the reporting on Freund and going through the situation here for anyone who wants to read a bit more and gauge what is actually happening/has happened. Some insights from me on some of the reporting on it as well in here. I wrote this before Freund officially confirmed he is not taking the role.
Next up, a sourced story on Chelsea’s attacker plans for January and the summer. In here, some BIG news on Ronaldo, Ivan Toney, Mitrovic, Neymar, Broja, Havertz, and other names.
Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is another name being mentioned with Chelsea right now, find out why in here.
And finally, I have some updates and opinions on our current goalkeeper situation. News in here on Kepa, Mendy, Slonina, and more.
Today I am going to be doing an article on alternatives to Freund after speaking to my sources, and I’ll report what the plan is now. Article out around 1pm today on the home page.
Thanks for stopping by as always, have a good hump day!
Peace, Si.
Hi Simon, the Freund news is just a minor setback. I like that Boehly and co are putting in a lot of work to find the right fit and not just popular names. I see some ‘fans’ almost rejoicing that the Freund deal collapsed and I find that very irritating. If anyone is happy because Boehly hit a bump in his plan to put an amazing structure in place for Chelsea to succeed long term, then they might as well cut off their nose to spite their face cos the new owners are here atleast 10yrs.
