Chelsea Newsletter - Tuesday 9th August
Covering: Sources on new attacking targets, Why Chelsea should push for Zaha, UK Media - it's getting boring, Chelsea struggling with match fitness? Plus all the latest CFC transfer stories...
Morning all!
It’s another warm week here in the UK, but another week of transfer news warming up as well!
Chelsea played an in-house game at Cobham on Sunday, and for the first story of the day, I speak a little about that game here, who played, and also some concerns on our general squad match fitness right now.
Next up, head to yesterday’s live blog to get all the latest transfer news, and any sourced news (we put out like a record amount of BIG sourced stories in this one yesterday that you will not want to miss) of our own from the last 24 hours here. The latest on Wesley Fofana and Frenkie De Jong can be found in this one too, as well as further details on the in-house game at Cobham on Sunday.
A sourced story now on attackers here. With the amount of forwards we could be losing from our squad in the next few weeks, it’s very clear that Chelsea will be targeting at least one new attacker. Full info in the article including a host of names on the shortlist.
On the subject of attackers, Wilfried Zaha anyone? There are some very small links bubbling up, and of course, as we reported last week, there is some interest from our side. But more on that, as well as my own views on this rumour, can be found here.
Finally, let’s send a nice firm message here to the UK Media once again, who have collectively been in tears about Chelsea spending money on buying players all week. Shock news, Chelsea spend money to sign quality players, hold the front pages! Chin up Neville lad!
That’s it for now! Have a top Tuesday!
Peace, Si.
Good morning Simon. You mentioned late last night that the third bid has gone in for Fofana in the comments. Hopefully that gets done. I am still not very much sold on Frenkie’s signing because I still think this team needs a DM. Frenkie’s defensive woes have been pointed out by multiple tactical accounts I’ve checked on. Hopefully Tuchel knows what he’s doing if we do sign De Jong
Zaha isn’t the answer to our creative questions. He looks good in a mid-table team, not in a hopefully fighting for the title.
