Covering: Edouard Mendy living a fairy tale, Arno Michels with the reigns, Loan Report on Dujon Sterling, Looking at our opponents Al-Hilal, Training updates plus more...
Morning!
It’s certainly a different kind of week this week at Chelsea Football Club, as the boys continue to train in what can only be described as paradise over in Abu Dhabi.
They are reportedly sticking to strict Covid-19 restrictions this week in a bubble in their hotel, but what a place to be ‘stuck’ at.
We play Saudi side Al-Hilal on Wednesday late afternoon/early evening in the semi-finals, and this is a team who have the ability to cause us some big problems. I’ve got a mini opposition scouting report here.
Tuchel obviously will not be there yet, and it’s touch and go as to whether he will be able to come out at all, IF we make the final.
So the reigns stay with his assistant head coach, Arno Michels this week, and I’ve penned a bit about him and his history here for those interested.
Monday saw a bit of an Edouard Mendy celebration day on social media, and I’m totally here for it. The Blues stopper was crowned a Champion of Africa on Sunday night and deserves all the plaudits he gets. Here is my plaudits and a reminder of how he got where he is today.
After my article earlier this week on the progress of Ethan Ampadu, there was another loanee I wanted to take a look at who is also going slightly under the radar so far this season, Dujon Sterling. Check out my loan report on him here.
Finally, some news on Niklas Sule, Jules Kounde, Training updates, some shocking stuff from a legal settlement involving the club this week, and all your other Chelsea news in the Live Blog from Monday here.
Have a top Tuesday people!
