Chelsea Newsletter: Tuesday 18th April
Covering: Real Madrid preview, Manager pursuit heating up, Nagelsmann or Enrique choices, Ben Jacobs latest column, Hoping for smart recruitment, Plus all the latest Chelsea news and transfer rumours!
Morning all,
It’s another match day already, here we go again! Not looking forward to this one at all, but we strap in, we invest, and we go again!
The Blues welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Champions League quarter finals. Whilst we are 2-0 down from the first leg, and I have zero hope, we are only at half time so never say never! I’ve got my full preview and predictions article to ponder here.
Meanwhile, the pursuit for a new permanent manager is heating up, and David Ornstein of The Athletic this week described it as reaching the ‘middle point’ of the search, meaning an end is coming soon. Chelsea have narrowed it down to a ‘handful’ of candidates, and the two major ones always seem to be Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique. I’ve got some words on them here, as well as a chance to vote for who you want to come in.
Staying on the theme of new managers and the current situation, Ben Jacobs dropped his latest exclusive column with us yesterday, so if you missed that you can catch it here. As always, some great and detailed sourced info in this on managers, FFP, and transfer news!
One major thing I hope to see from Chelsea moving forward is sustainable smart recruitment, which we believe to be part of the long-term plan anyway. I’ve got some words on that here.
Finally, head to the live blog from yesterday here to get all the rest of the general Chelsea news from other outlets as well as any further sourced stuff I get/got through the day. Frank Lampard and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s pre-match presser quotes in this as well.
That’s it for today. I’d say enjoy the game tonight, but yeah….. Either way, let’s go Chelsea!!! UTC!
Peace, Si.
