Covering: Big matchday in Madrid - Team news/predictions, Pagliuca adds more wealth, Ownership latest, Tuchel cautious on Werner, Bidders want Marina to stay, Darwin Nunez to Chelsea, plus more...
It’s another matchday newsletter and this one is huge!
We are in Spain tonight trying to overturn a 3-1 first leg deficit against Real Madrid and although Thomas Tuchel has been playing it down, you cannot help but dream of the impossible tonight!
I’ve got the full preview, my thoughts, the team news, predictions, and loads more to have a ponder at here first as we prepare for the big game.
Tuchel has some big decisions to make on the squad tonight, and one of the major ones will be whether he continues with Timo Werner after a five star performance from him at Southampton on Saturday. He sounds rather cautious about it and is wise to play it down a bit. Read more on that here.
Another big decision is whether Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues at right wing-back tonight, allowing Reece James to come in at right centre back to deal with the threat of Vinicius, who ruined Andreas Christensen there last week. To have a deep look into the tactical side of this, our analyst Ryan Gunness has a fantastic piece on that here.
As we enter the pinnacle week for bidders trying to buy Chelsea this week, consortium’s are busy trying to add further financial muscle to their groups and the latest to do so is Stephen Pagliuca. Catch up on that and all the rest of the latest ownership stories and latest Chelsea news, including Tuchel’s presser from yesterday, in our live blog from yesterday here.
Will Marina Granovskaia be staying at Chelsea under the new ownership? We’ve got some news on that here off the back of a report from The Athletic, and added what we know.
Finally, a story on today’s cover star, Darwin Nunez. You may well remember, we reported back in October 2021 that Chelsea were heavily scouting Nunez, so it is interesting to see fresh rumours this week, you can read that here.
Enjoy the game tonight and let’s hope we can pull off one of the greatest ever comebacks in football! COME ON CHELSEA!!!
Peace, Si.
