Chelsea Newsletter - Thursday 31st March
Covering: Latest Ownership Takeover Scandal, #NoToRicketts Bid, #BuckOff, How Azpi Can Be Replaced, Dybala To Chelsea, Old Skool Gems - Mikel, Plus More...
Morning All!
Welcome to Thursday’s newsletter! As always, there is a lot of noise on the ownership race, as well as a lot of drama and turmoil. I’ve been seeing a lot of my friends on social media taking a break these last few days and I totally get why, it’s not much fun out there right now.
You can get all the latest on the ownership takeover including news of Boehly already working on the stadium redevelopment, The Ricketts Scandals, plus other noise on Timo Werner, Raphinha etc here from yesterday’s live blog updates.
A bit more of a look into The Ricketts bid here, as well as covering the drama that ensued this week following Paul Canoville’s statement, who is by the way, meeting ALL parties on the shortlist and is not endorsing any bid in particular.
It looks quite likely now that club captain Cesar Azpilicueta will be off to Barcelona this summer. So the question is, how do we replace him in terms of personnel? And how do we replace the permanent captaincy? I’ve answered those questions here.
An interesting transfer rumour to rate here and it is one we have spoken about a few times before so certainly worth checking in on. Paul Dybala to Chelsea?
Finally. A new article series I have started and will look to be doing regularly now on the site whilst we don’t have a lot of transfer news to ponder at least, titled ‘Old Skool Gems’. This is where I will profile a former Chelsea player that I have clear memories of, but a player who might not always get the credit they deserved, otherwise known as under rated… My first subject - John Obi Mikel here.
We are still trying to confirm a Podcast guest for later today from the Chelsea Supporter’s Trust or similar. That will be out tonight as well and hopefully we can get the guest. Stamford Chidge from the Trust IS going to join us in a couple of weeks, but he couldn’t make this week unfortunately. But we look forward to that one, Chidge is a great guy and will be full of insights and great opinions on the ownership.
Peace, Si.
The English government just don’t get it! Roman is doing the right thing by pushing for peace in Ukraine. If the gov lifted sanctions it would inspire others to do good in the world. Small minded politicians will kill our club if we let them. Shocking!
The Sports Minister’s comments yesterday really annoyed me - there’s been no proof of Roman’s ties to Putin & fro what Huddleston said, he obviously has no consideration for our Club, beyond it’s ties to Roman. They could quite easily enable the club to run normally without any financial benefits getting back to the owner.
On another of your articles, should I still be seriously worried that the Ricketts are still in the race? As appalling as the comments the father made are, it’s not that which really worries me, the main issue is their record at running a sports team (I.e. Cubs) & the lack of success & investment. Just coz they’ve got the most money doesn’t mean they’re the best. How can Raine be impartial & appropriate agents of the sale if they’re ‘in bed’ with the Ricketts.
