Good Morning!
In the words of rap legend Ice Cube, Today (Wednesday) was a good day!
Finally, we got the confirmation that the Chelsea takeover was a done deal at long last. As we know, it had been done in principle for some time now but we had just been waiting for the final bits of signing off of the paperwork, it was never in doubt as we’ve said all along here.
Let’s have a look back here on the turmoil and events of the last three months and take a day or two to relax, take it all in, and enjoy it before the busy summer really starts accelerating.
It’s been heavily reported that Thomas Tuchel will get a ‘£200m war chest’ to spend this summer, and that term always makes me laugh. I’ve broken down the reports here and tried to make it all a lot clearer for you, and this might also explain why I dislike the term ‘war chest’!
So, it’s been a couple of months now due to the uncertainty, but it’s time for another scenario. Looking at the whole £200m thing and what I have said in my above article, here is what I would do this summer if I was in charge. I don’t think this is unrealistic at all and it could actually be even better than this.
I wanted to address a debate I’ve seen on social media this week next and add my fifty pence worth. Conor Gallagher, Billy Gilmour, and Declan Rice have been involved in a debate, and here are my views on it.
Finally, there’s been transfer rumours flying around all over the place these last few days, so get a recap on all of them, as well as how yesterday’s ownership events unfolded here in the live blog from Wednesday.
As it’s Thursday, that means we have a Podcast out tonight. You may have seen it on our Twitter account, but we will be joined today by Nathan Gissing (cfcnewspage from Instagram) for a summer transfer special. Absolutely not to be missed this one, Nathan is renowned for his solid inside info. This will be out around 6pm ish UK time.
Peace, Si.
