Covering: Today's Deadline Day For Bidders, Underdog Bidders Making Moves, The Highs And Lows From Madrid, Let's Talk Captains, New Owners Must Give Tuchel The Keys To Drive, Plus More...
Morning people!
Today is the deadline day for the shortlisted bidders to buy Chelsea (or is it just the shortlisted ones?) to put their final proposals on the table to Raine Group and Roman Abramovich.
Once a final decision has been made (hopefully next week), we expect things to move fairly quick. More on that here which also includes a look at the two underdogs in this race who are making a late dart for the finish line. It’s certainly about to get very interesting now!
More reflections from Madrid this week now from me, with there being a lot to ponder and talk about. My emotions have settled now from the rollercoaster of Tuesday night, and I’ve penned some calmer highs and lows of the game here.
A spin off to the article above here, and it’s focused around discussing club captaincy, or perhaps more importantly, why I believe that the world class N’Golo Kante should not be our captain, with the absolute greatest possible respect. This is not an article slating Kante, far from it. I still think he’s essential to this team.
Peep the live blog from yesterday here to grab all the rest of the latest on ownership news and general Chelsea stories.
Finally, an open letter from me to our new owners here with simply two instructions to follow if they want to come in and be successful right away. Thankfully, I actually believe that all shortlisted bidders WILL do this.
Remember, we have a huge Podcast episode being recorded and coming out later today with the knowledgeable Ben Jacobs, who has some top sources connected to our ownership situation and will be delivering the very latest on that to us today, which also happens to be ‘deadline day’.
This will be out this evening hopefully around 7pm (UK).
Thanks everyone!
Peace, Si.
