Covering: Cucurella to Chelsea, How we need to look at making shrewd signings, Tuchel being backed by Roman, Petr Cech's developing role, And our Al-Hilal Match Review...
Good morning all,
The night after our Club World Cup semi-final clash with Saudi side Al-Hilal.
Well, it was laboured and we made it a lot harder than it should have been, but Chelsea are in the Club world Cup final! You can catch my verdict and thoughts on the result and the game here.
Petr Cech is over in Abu Dhabi with the squad this week and in Thomas Tuchel’s absence, he was taking a team talk before training on Tuesday afternoon.
This is just another example of how Cech’s role as Technical Director at Chelsea has been developing into so much more than that, read all about it here.
With the whole Romelu Lukaku situation still casting over us like a rain cloud, it was good to hear other reports backing ours up from weeks ago that the club are fully behind Thomas Tuchel right now, especially Roman Abramovich. Get the latest on that here.
Some transfer stuff to see us out for today here, this one being a rumour to rate - Marc Cucurella from Brighton to Chelsea, could it really happen?
An extensive piece here that I really enjoyed going back into, looking at all our smart and shrewd signings from the last 10 years, and also some poor ones, and pondering how we must look to be making such signings this summer and going forward due to many reasons.
That’s all folks. But remember, we do have our Podcast with Football London’s Chelsea reporter, Adam Newson coming out tomorrow afternoon at 3pm, we are recording that today and have A LOT to speak on!
Cheers all, Si.
