Chelsea Newsletter: Monday 2nd Jan
Covering: Transfer window opens, Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea latest, Sources on Nahuel Molina, Nottingham Forest reflections, Plus all the latest Chelsea news and transfer rumours!
Morning all, welcome to 2023!
I do hope you all had a good weekend and enjoyed whatever you might have gotten up to for New Years Eve. I had a really good time with family!
Chelsea kick started 2023 for us by having a fixture on New Years Day. It was a pretty abysmal way to start the New Year unfortunately, and Graham Potter and our new owners have some stern questions to answer. You can get my full match reflections on the game here.
The transfer window opened yesterday, although the way Chelsea have already been moving, it feels like the window has already been open for weeks!
Get a bit of a feel for things and the deals we are working on here, with a mini January preview article, if you like.
I put the latest out on the Enzo Fernandez deal here yesterday, and things might have even changed since then with how fast this one is moving. So apologies if this is a little outdated now, but I did send it to your email addresses at the time! But never fear, read on, because I have even fresher and more detailed Enzo updates below….
I have you covered here with fresh and latest Enzo updates, as well as anything else that happened in the world of Chelsea news and transfers over the last 24 hours.
Finally, news of another player being looked at Chelsea now here as they look to bring in extra cover and competition for Reece James.
In other news, Ben Jacobs starts with us this week! I’ll confirm what day his first article will be out with us, but it’ll hopefully be tomorrow. He’s also on the Pod on Thursday with myself and Macca! It’s all going on here this year people!
Peace, Si.
Happy New Year Si! Yes I get the frustrations with Potter - he should be giving the young players some real game time.
In his defence he is lumbered with one of the worst midfields I can remember. Pep would struggle with that dross!
Also a word on injuries. I was running through the list of players - Reece, Chilly, Kante, Fofana - seem to be permanently or semi-permanently unavailable. Kova has to be managed. Even Broja is out for the season.
Add to this physically weak players - Pulisic, Ziyech and Jorgi.
New ownership must examine physical records of new signings because we seem to be repeating mistake after mistake. Enzo would be a great start but if I am honest I am amazed he would consider joining Chelsea at the moment!
