Chelsea Newsletter - Friday 9th Sept
Covering: Start of the Potter era, Which players can thrive under Potter? More info and reflection on Tuchel being sacked, A tribute to Tuchel, Plus all the latest big news...
Morning all,
First of all, I want to pay my upmost respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II after her sad passing yesterday. My sincere thoughts and wishes to her family. Rest in peace.
In the football world, we have made it to Friday once again through another absolutely crazy week at Chelsea Football Club. There is never a dull moment. It’s been a rollercoaster ride this week and emotions have been all over the place.
It’s the end of one era, and the start of a new one. As always in these situations, the news IS literally Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, so the newsletter is obviously based on all of that, because that’s literally been THE Chelsea news this week.
I’ve been coming out with a few different reaction articles this week to Tuchel’s sacking, and I have a couple more to start with first and foremost.
I wanted to write a tribute to Tuchel, who will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by Chelsea fans. I’ve gone through his time with us here and given my thoughts on our former gaffer.
The next article is another sourced story on what actually happened and why it happened, with some more added detail than my first article on it earlier this week. There are some very interesting bits in here.
The live blog yesterday was super lively once again, so it’s a good place to head to find out and re-live how it all went down yesterday. Plenty of sourced bits and pieces in here as well.
As one era ends, another one starts, and it is time to put our support firmly behind Graham Potter, whatever we thought on Tuchel’s sacking. I’ve got an added article to my profile on him earlier in the week here which details who will thrive under Potter, and who may not…
If you want to hear my further thoughts on the whole situation, as well as Macca’s, then yesterday’s Podcast was super lively, and I’d highly suggest giving it a listen here if you haven’t yet!
Friday’s fixtures have been postponed as a mark of respect to The Queen’s passing, and the weekend fixtures could follow. There will be a meeting this morning and an announcement made.
So, our match vs Fulham on Saturday may get called off. Even still, I’ve previewed the game here. This was written before the sad news and may or may not now be relevant.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Peace, Si.
No fan of the royalty as an Indian but I’ve got to say, if you use someone’s death as your 5 mins of fame, you’re a pretty despicable person. May she rest in peace.
Si, now that Potter is our new manager, I wanted a little clarity.
Is it true that the other 8 managers on our shortlist were Julian Nagelsmann, Hansi Flick, Luis Enrique, Julen Lopetegui, Roberto Mancini, Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Ruben Amorim?
And if that is true, why was Potter given the job over more "accomplished" candidates?
