Covering: LAMPS IS BACK!! First words, training, first game Saturday - what lineup will he go for? My thoughts on Lampard being back, Sourced story on summer manager plans, Mamardashvili interest.....
Morning!
I certainly wasn’t expecting to write a sub-title like that any time soon. I’d always imagined Frank Lampard coming back to our club in some capacity one day, but there’s no way I’d have ever expected this to happen and unfold as it has done this week. It’s been absolutely mental, but I’m buzzing that the legend has returned home again! You can recap on the announcement here.
To get my full thoughts on it and why I am backing it, you can check in here.
Lampard was officially unveiled as Blues boss until the end of the season yesterday and there was his first words back in the form of a press conference, and he also took his first training session with the squad ahead of the Wolves game on Saturday. It was all a total whirlwind and fans have mainly been on cloud nine! Recap it all here as well as finding out all the rest of the latest Chelsea news ahead of another Premier League game tomorrow.
How might Frank Lampard’s Chelsea look? We know he prefers a back four, but what sort of setup will he go for with this squad? I’ve pondered that and put some potential options out here.
So what about the long-term manager plans? Has Lampard got a chance of keeping the job further than interim? Are Chelsea still pursuing Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique? Find all that out here in my sourced report on it.
Chelsea have been linked Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili this week, with his agents apparently meeting Chelsea in London. But who is he? Find out here and get further news on that report.
We recorded our latest Podcast last night and had Ben Jacobs join myself and Macca. Obviously we had a lot to chat about after a week like we’ve just had. Pure madness, get our reflections, thoughts and inside info here.
Right, if you haven’t downloaded the Substack App yet I suggest you do, because no doubt I’ll need to use it to report more in the chat this weekend when not on the site!
Have a good weekend, and let’s hope we can celebrate super Frankie’s return hard after a win against Wolves!! COME ON CHELSEA!! SOOOOOPA FRANK!!!
Peace, Si.
Frank is an excellent choice for interim manager.
Basically for the feelgood factor which was sucked dry by Potter and his sidekicks.
Aside from that the fans of course love him.
ALSO importantly great pick because he is NOT a candidate for the full-time job.
Chelsea must not make the mistake Man Utd made with Ollie Gunnar Solksjaer (i.e. convert the interim post to a full-time position) if he gets a few wins under his belt. He does not have the CV to take the job full-time.
I have a feeling Sterling will step up the last games, as an older and more experienced alternative i really hope he will. Expect big things from him next season
