Chelsea in talks with at least two midfielders
With just days left in this window, Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are contemplating some big last minute decisions
The current transfer window has just days left now as we approach the end of the month, and Chelsea could still affectively land two more new signings.
Thomas Tuchel would be keen to add another centre midfielder to the ranks, but he only wants a player/s who will improve/add to what he already has. Tuchel is happy with the current squad in general, and he has also been taking a look at Ethan Ampadu in the centre midfield position. Then there is also Ruben Loftus-Cheek still in the squad.
There is also the pursuit of Jules Kounde still in the works.
So there are some decisions to be made in the final days of the window, and I have been reliably informed that Chelsea have been in talks with at least two midfielders over a potential move to Chelsea this window.
Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco is a player who has been on the radar now for months, and talks have been reignited there in recent days. In fact, I understand Chelsea have already verbally agreed terms with the young French midfielder, but this is quite normal and just in preparation.
It doesn’t mean he will definitely sign for Chelsea this window, and I am also unsure whether this might be for some kind of deal to sign him and then loan him back for the season. This is more speculation though and not based on any real information I’ve been told, but there has been some whispers of this.
The other one I can confirm is the talks with Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid. Our colleague and friend cfcnewspage from Instagram got the exclusive on this over the weekend and reported that Chelsea were in talks to sign Niguez on loan this window. I can confirm this is correct - A loan with an option to buy next summer.
The talks though, as I understand, are just very early talks and his agent has been speaking to a lot of clubs in England offering him out on loan. Chelsea were more than happy to hold these talks and it would be a similar deal that saw them take Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid, so it is something they are interested in.
However, once again I must reiterate, this does not mean that Chelsea are definitely signing Niguez this window. In fact, they might not sign a new midfielder at all, I am about 50/50 on this as it stands.
Also, there will be other midfielders potentially being spoken to/about that I might not have information on. As I say, I don’t always get all the information, just bits and pieces.
Final word - Do not rule out a last minute attempt to sign Declan Rice…. and Eduardo Camavinga is also a name I’ve been given.

I’m not going to pretend as if I’ve watched Saul play week in week out. I have mostly seen the clips on YouTube and on Twitter. However him being a part of the A.Madrid set up for a while now tells me his a decent player who could get the job done and if he is what Tuchel wants then I’m fine with it, a move similar to Kovacic benefit all parties if I’m honest.
