Chelsea are comfortable with FFP per most briefings from within the club, the reasons why are quite obvious.......
Anything else you hear is pure scaremongering
Good Morning Ladies and Gents,
This article is a little shorter than usual, but with a clear point.
Disclaimer; This article was written Friday 15th March 2024.
The obvious money makers this summer are the Cobham talents that we already know are earmarked for a sale, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and potentially Conor Gallagher. As well as the guaranteed £30m from Lewis Hall.
As well as those we have the likes of Charlie Webster, Harvey Vale, Mason Burstow (not Cobham OG) & Bashir Humphreys that would also make the club some good money, I am far from suggesting we sell these players, but I wouldn’t be totally against the sales as long as a couple of key factors are agreed; A sell-on clause, a buy-back/match bid clause & a good sized transfer fee for each.
All of those factors are predominantly relevant to Webster, Vale and Humphreys as I am not completely sold on Burstow so far.
As well as those players we would profit from the sales of certain non-Cobham players as long as it is over their Unamortised fee (UF for reference);
David Datro Fofana - £6m UF
Hakim Ziyech - £7m UF
Cesare Casadei - £8m UF
Kepa Arrizabalaga - £10m UF
Robert Sanchez - £18m UF
Noni Madueke - £22m UF
Raheem Sterling - £26m UF
Marc Cucurella - £33.33m UF
Romelu Lukaku - £40m UF
Not all of these players will be sold or I would sell, but these are interesting values for some of these players.
So with my calculations (which are guesses) I can predict a rough profit of around £150-200 million this summer, depending on which of these players are sold, I will show you my profit calculations below.
Lewis Hall - £30m
Trevoh Chalobah - £20m
Armando Broja - £30m
Conor Gallagher - £40m
Charlie Webster - £10m
Harvey Vale - £10m
Bashir Humphreys - £15m
Mason Burstow - £5m
Datro Fofana - £9m (£15m transfer fee)
Hakim Ziyech - break even
Cesare Casadei - £7m (£15m transfer fee)
Kepa Arrizabalaga - £0-5m (Max. £15m transfer fee)
Robert Sanchez - £2m (£20m transfer fee)
Noni Madueke - £8m (£30m transfer fee)
Raheem Sterling - £4-9 (£30-35m transfer fee)
Marc Cucurella - £-3.33m loss (£30m transfer fee)
Romelu Lukaku - break even
Chelsea will also potentially have a pretty decent windfall coming in from a 20% sell-on clause on Jamal Musiala, who could be sold this summer.
I think I have under valued some transfers and over valued others, this will give a rough estimation but something that is easily doable if last summers negotiations are anything to go by.
Thanks for reading

Thanks for this Luke. This is really interesting and I think puts a lot of the news and media chatter in place if you raise £100 million, from my understanding on five-year contracts you could infect spend £500 million although we obviously wouldn’t want to go to that excess again.
Secondly, lots of people forget when they talk about our spending. It’s not only the income from sales but also the fact that we have, or should I say the owners reduce the wage by 30% plus. That will be decreased further with this summer sales of one or two high earners
Last week let’s not forget that we are now owned by financiers who spent their life in the financial markets buying and selling businesses and understanding the underlying financial aspects of those businesses and the rules that they have to adhere to. I for one, seriously find it hard to believe that they will get these calculations wrong and that they don’t know what they’re doing from a financial aspect as a minimum. I’m here to be shocked though
Interesting read, thanks. Have we already had money for Ian Maatsen? I never see him in anyone's calculations.
