Chelsea 2 West Ham 1, Transfer window over - issues bubbling, Douglas Luiz would have been the smart move, Chukwuemeka and Gittens 'swap' already brewing? Deadline day as it happened, More...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 4th February 2025!
Morning all,
That’s it, another winter transfer window is all over. The next window comes in the summer and although these are my bread and butter, I’m quite pleased we don’t have to do that again for a while!
Fear not though, we will have all the sourced news and exclusive transfer news leading up to the summer and of course, we will bring insider info, team news, and injury news as well until the next window is here as well as opinions, match reviews, tactical looks, analysis, interviews, polls, site interactions, the weekly podcast, and MUCH more! So make sure you stick with us here at THE best Chelsea fan community in the world and chat Chelsea with us every single day (almost).
Anyways, the transfer window ended last night, and you can round up any late drama and last minute deals in our live blog yesterday which takes you through everything as it all unfolded. Check that out here. Chelsea did ONE permanent deal this window, and that was the arrival of a new teenage midfielder.
I’ll do a transfer window review article today, and I have a feeling there will be some ranting, as well as my own coping mechanism, pure sarcasm! But until then, I have started to put some thoughts together on some situations brewing up amongst the fan base and the players, with a chunk of players still being here who want out. It’s a situation that Chelsea need to get on top of, but has it already now gone too far? Check that out here.
A new midfielder came in yesterday. Chelsea literally looked at Douglas Luiz, so they obviously do see these types of buys as smart sometimes, but they didn’t do it. Words on all of that in here.
Carney Chukwuemeka headed to Dortmund on loan yesterday and there was some strange reporting on that situation. Carns has been up for sale for a long time now and he doesn’t get used at all in the squad. Pretty much tells you all you want to know, and are Chelsea now sensing an opportunity to sign Jamie Gittens this summer? Words on that one here.
Oh, and there was a game last night as well on deadline day, a game that I did manage to find time to watch and review despite trying to cover the late transfer deals as well.
Chelsea got VERY lucky to beat West Ham after Cole Palmer’s cross was deflected in for an own goal. But we don’t care how we win, the win is the most important thing here, no matter how it happens. The Blues are back into the top four!
You can get my full thoughts, ratings, and more on that game here.
I’ll be on the next live blog from around 8.30am today, see you all there!
Peace, Si.
I am troubled by how Chelsea are reporting the progress of Lavia. First three weeks ago we were told Lavia would be out for four weeks, we are now being told Lavia will be out for at least four weeks more. Why make these things so complicated? Why did Chelsea not just tell us that Lavia was injured and they wasn't sure how long the injury would take to heal.
