Barcelona considering move to sign Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea's out of favour centre back looks likely to leave soon
Spanish giants Barcelona are considering a move to sign out of favour Chelsea centre back, Antonio Rudiger.
The 27-year old has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard this season and has seemingly become surplus to requirements.
The La Liga side are keen on signing Rudiger as a fourth-choice option, and reports state that he is keen on making a move abroad.
Since Chelsea signed Thiago Silva, they have left themselves with five centre backs who will all consider themselves as first-teamers.
But it is Silva and Kurt Zouma who are getting the regular nod for Lampard so far this season and unless anything drastic happens, I can't see that happening especially with the form they are currently producing.
My verdict?
The report is from Spanish publication, SPORT.
Reliability level - very low.
Rudiger is likely to leave Chelsea in one of the next two windows, this is pretty much a given. But if he does go, he will be going somewhere where he is going to be a first choice option, not a fourth choice as this report suggests.
The Spanish publication are thought to be one of those very close to Barcelona, and in the report it appears they are just name dropping a number of players, Rudiger included.
I can see Rudiger going to a club like Tottenham, possibly on loan in January if his game time at Chelsea does not increase.
Jose Mourinho likes him, and was keen on signing him the summer just gone.
Rudiger isn't a bad defender and will certainly do a job for someone, but his time at Chelsea is almost certainly over and personally I would call him our fourth choice centre back right now in terms of ability - behind Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, and Fikayo Tomori.
