Arsenal going for Berta highlights our mistakes, Caicedo more Kante than Matic, Petrovic gets narrow community backing, Washington on importance of leaders, News roundups, Much more....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Wednesday 5th March 2025!
Morning all,
Welcome to your latest Chelsea FC Newsletter! It’s been pretty quiet without any Chelsea games on, but The Blues are back in action tomorrow night against Copenhagen in the Conference League in what is another big game.
As always though, we pump out the content here regardless!
Begin with the news roundups from yesterday here, covering all your latest general Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the same place.
Midfielder Moises Caicedo is in for player of the season shouts already if he can continue his fine form this season. And what the stats show me here is that he is not only channelling his inner N’Golo Kante, it also proves that he is a box-to-box midfielder rather than a holder, and this is where you will get the best out of him.
Meanwhile, striker Deivid Washington has joined Santos on loan and has spoken on that move. But it was his comments on Thiago Silva that I have highlighted here to once again state the important of having leaders in your squad.
And leaders and experience are important at all levels at any successful club, especially at the top, those who are making all the most important decisions in recruitment. And Chelsea do not have that in their sporting directors. The fact Arsenal are going for the proven and experienced Andrea Berta as their new sporting director, just highlights to me again the mistakes we have made in that department. Words on that here.
And finally for this newsletter, the community have voted, and the slight majority want to see Djordje Petrovic as Chelsea’s number one next season, but only a slight majority. I disagree. Words on that here.
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.30am today!
Peace, Si.
