A year ago since a full Stamford Bridge - Thomas Tuchel can't wait to 'entertain' the fans
We also played and beat Everton!
At the time of writing, it has been a year to the day since Chelsea played in front of a full house at Stamford Bridge.
All bar a small amount being allowed back in for a couple of games in between, the Blues have now been playing for a full year without fans.
Of course every club has had to deal with the same thing, but new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes fans can give them an ‘edge’ because they are a team who aim to ‘entertain’ and play good football.
Ironically, the last team Chelsea played with fans at Stamford Bridge was against Everton, and they won 4-0. Of course they face Everton tonight a year to do the day.
Like all of us, the boss cannot wait to play in front of fans again.
“The sport is not the same,” Tuchel explained on the Chelsea website.
“We play it for the fans, we play it at the highest level for entertainment for our fans and for all the supporters around the world.
“It [a crowd] gives you a certain edge, it gives you a certain energy that you cannot have in an empty stadium. We don’t like it but we are grateful that we can still play. At the same time we cannot compare and I cannot wait until our fans are back.”
Tuchel believes that his style of football and this current squad can really get the crowd going, and he is pining for that moment.
“I think we can really get the crowd going and I cannot wait until everybody is there,” Tuchel continued.
“This team has everything needed to entertain our supporters and hopefully it is as soon as possible.”
Well, I think this is one thing that collectively every single Chelsea fan can fully agree with, and that happens basically never!
