Morning all,

I hope you had a good weekend and continue to enjoy the Bank Holiday this weekend if you’re lucky enough to have it off work.

Chelsea are in Premier League action this afternoon in the 3pm kick off, home to Nottingham Forest. The visitors are in fine form and have not lost a game in the league since March the 1st. I’ve got a bit of a preview and a look at the league table and state of play ahead of that game here.

Marco Silva is somehow on our new manager short list, but he did not understand the assignment this weekend did he? How he’s even being spoken about as a potential Chelsea manager is beyond belief, but am I surprised? Nope, unfortunately not. Liam Delap has had a terrible first season as a Chelsea player and for me, he needs to go out on loan this summer. With Ipswich coming back to the Premier League, could that be an option? Predicting and reporting his future here.

Chelsea have reached out to the agent of one of their former players regarding a possible summer transfer move.

As we know, the club are actioning some plans for a busy summer transfer window of both outgoings and new arrivals. A lot of the new arrivals will depend on outgoing business. However, Chelsea will be signing in regardless.

Focus is very much around the new manager and getting him in place for the end of the season, but summer transfer plans continue alongside that in terms of reaching out to agents and laying foundations down for deals.

The centre back area is one of priority for the club this summer, and that is where this story is centred.

Welcome to May, and welcome to another weekend! Summer is almost upon us, and the football season is winding down to it’s end this month.

Chelsea do not play until Monday night this weekend, so you’re all free to go out and enjoy some local football, or whatever it is you decide you want to do! I’m playing two football matches in two days this weekend as I have a charity game on Sunday - wish me luck for Monday, I may not be walking!

The big one from yesterday was that Xabi Alonso is at least interested in speaking about the vacant Chelsea manager position. But there is some potential sticking points. Read all about that in our exclusive here.

Chelsea fans WANT Alonso. I added him to the polls this week, and he’s obviously come out as first choice. Find out who is second and third choice amongst the SPTC community here.

Apparently Dave Fallows is influential in finding our next manager, and that does give me some hope for sure. I’m a little reassured by this news, which you can read all about here.

This week, Chelsea began reaching out to agents of possible new manager hires for the end of the season.

It is true that Chelsea have a wide range shortlist of possible names they are weighing up, with some of those names already being approached. Next step will be face to face interviews after initial discussions with agents to gauge interest.

Earlier this week, we reported that Chelsea reached out to the reps of Andoni Iraola and Xabi Alonso, with them sharing the same agent.

This was to find out whether there would be any interest on their side. We reported that Iraola was up for a conversation about the role, but we were yet to hear what the response was from Alonso.

Chelsea have now added TWO new names to the potential new manager shortlist for their next appointment.

Things are advancing a little now for the new manager search at Chelsea, and reps of possible new managers are being contacted.

There are plenty of names linked right now, and Chelsea are doing their due diligence on each name, with two more new ones that have not been reported anywhere else yet, added to the list.

Welcome to your midweek roundup of the latest Chelsea news as we hit hump day again.

First of all, the new manager situations are what takes the headlines as is the biggest story of the moment at our club.

The SPTC community have spoken, and out of the names being linked over the last week or so, Cesc Fabregas is (magic) the main one that you all want the most. Find out what we think on other names such as Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, Filipe Luiz, Jose Mourinho, and Frank Lampard here.

I mentioned Lampard, but right now he is busy making plans for Coventry to attack the Premier League next season. So is there any chance he could become Chelsea manager for a THIRD time? Well, get our sourced story on that here.
