Sources: Managerial merry-go-round, Chelsea qualify for Europe and finish 6th!! Winning with patience and stability: Boehly/Clearlake's Chelsea vision, Brighton deep tactical dive, More....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 20th May 2024!
Morning all,
We have arrived at the end of another season for Chelsea Football Club. The Women were triumphant in Emma Hayes’ last season at the club. There was some success amongst the academy sides. And Mauricio Pochettino’s Men’s team were somewhat inconsistent to say the least. I will be doing plenty of reviewing this week, and then looking ahead to the future, long term and short term!
Before that though, we have one final game to review this season. Chelsea welcomed Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge for the closing game of the season, and not only was it that, it was Thiago Silva’s last ever game as a Chelsea player. It was emotional as expected.
Chelsea beat Bournemouth 2-1 to finish 6th in the league and qualify for Europe! After where we have been during big chunks of this season and some of the gloomy periods we had, to finish 6th and get European football is nothing short of a good achievement in the grand scheme of things and taking everything into consideration. You can grab my full thoughts in the aftermath of the game here.
Speaking of reviewing games, we had our resident analyst Seun put out his deep dive review into the Brighton game from last week. It’s well worth checking this one out here if you haven’t yet!
Back to the future plans of the club now. There will be a review meeting taking place between Mauricio Pochettino and the decision makers at the club any time from now. And there is still a sense that this review could see Pochettino move on, although the general consensus from media reports last week is that he is now likely to stay. Even still, there is a manager merry-go-round expected to happen this summer, and Chelsea could be involved still. Check out my sourced article on that here.
We have The Score up next, and he has been speaking about Todd Boehly and Clearlake’s patient plan for Chelsea based on words spoken by Todd earlier last week. It’s a very interesting article this one in here, well worth your time.
And to grab all your general Chelsea news in one place from yesterday, including all the reactions and quotes after yesterday’s game, head to Sunday’s news roundup article here!
Right, I’ll see you all on the live blog around 8.30am today, where I am sure we will all have a lot to discuss moving into the summer window and managerial plans!
Peace, Si.
I personally hope Poch gets sacked. No reason we couldn't have got top 4 this season. People say injuries had an issue and of course they did, but the team that won 5 in a row were all available during the season yet he decided to go with different players and use different tactics.
We are now in the 3rd season and our target next season has to be to finish 3rd. I don't think Poch can achieve that
