The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 17th September 2024!
Morning all,
Plenty of things going on at our wonderful club right now. Off the back of the Bournemouth win, I’ve have some more thoughts.
But before we get to those, Paul Merson thinks Clearlake would sell Cole Palmer if he became a £100m player just to turn a big profit. Other Chelsea fans agree. See what he said and give your opinion on that in here. It’s one of the main reasons many Blues fans want Clearlake out and Todd Boehly to take sole ownership over them.
Staying on Cole Palmer now as I get into more of my thoughts off the back of Saturday night’s victory. He has become a marked man. How he handles and deals with this will be an important part of his development. Lewis Cook was kicking him all game on Saturday, and he grew a bit frustrated. It has comparisons to Eden Hazard and how he was targeted. Much more on that in here.
Christopher Nkunku scored the goal that mattered and got all three points on Saturday, and it was some strong and instinctive play inside the box, something we have not seen enough of from our centre forward Nicolas Jackson. Nkunku’s finishing is why I think he should start as our centre forward now until Jackson’s finishing gets better, and/or we sign a new striker which we simply HAVE to. Much more on that one in here.
Finally, reacting from Saturday’s pre-match tunnel preps, it was Levi Colwill who was the most vocal leading the players out, not the captain for the day Moises Caicedo. This led me to think about a wider issue we still have at this club, a lack of leaders on the pitch (and in the board room it seems). Colwill for me is a perfect captain and should be considered, more on that in here.
And lastly for this newsletter, the news roundups from the last 24 hours covering all your latest Chelsea news in the same place in here.
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.30am today!
Peace, Si.
Nkunku is 10x the player Jackson will ever be. Watching Jackson try to play the ball makes me cringe, he was so bad against Bournemouth. Please start Nkunku for the rest of the reason!
